A RESOLUTION


Commending the Iota Theta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta of Kennesaw State University; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the young men of the chapter began a journey to help fight and treat childhood cancer; and

WHEREAS, the men teamed up with the St. Baldrick´s Foundation for kids with cancer as well as various other Greek organizations on campus such as Delta Phi Epsilon, Phi Mu, Gamma Phi Beta, Delta Chi, Kappa Sigma, and Theta Chi; and

WHEREAS, the young men raised money by shaving their heads in solidarity with the children and by planning a very successful event entitled "Greeks Go Bald," which took place on March 1, 2008 at Barnacles in Kennesaw; and

WHEREAS, the Greek organizations collectively raised well over $10,000 for the St. Baldricks Foundation; and

WHEREAS, the sororities honored a little girl cancer victim by presenting her with "little sister" gift baskets, and Delta Tau Delta honored a little boy cancer victim by naming him an honorary brother of the Iota Theta Chapter and by giving him a certificate and a brother jersey; and

WHEREAS, the brothers of the Iota Theta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta achieved their mission of proving to the State of Georgia that the young men and women of the university Greek system have the power to make a significant difference in this world.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Iota Theta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta of Kennesaw State University for their efforts in helping children with cancer.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Iota Theta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta of Kennesaw State University.
